
Common STDs in Men: Symptoms and Signs
General Symptoms:
Many STDs can be asymptomatic, but when symptoms do occur, they often include:
- Sores, blisters, or rashes on the genitals, anus, or mouth
- Painful or burning urination
- Unusual discharge from the penis (may be white, yellow, or green)
- Swollen testicles or lymph nodes
- Pain during ejaculation or frequent urination
- Flu-like symptoms (fever, fatigue, sore throat
Specific STDs and Their Symptoms
Common Symptoms in Men
- | Chlamydia | Painful urination, penile discharge, burning/itching at tip, swollen testicles; sometimes rectal pain
- | Gonorrhea | Painful urination, green/white/yellow discharge, swollen testicles, sometimes rectal symptoms
- | Herpes | Tingling, burning, or itching; blisters or sores on genitals, anus, buttocks, or thighs; flu-like symptoms
- | HPV | Genital warts (flesh-colored, cauliflower-like bumps), sometimes warts in mouth/throat
- | Syphilis | Painless sore (chancre), rash on palms/soles, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, sore throat, headache
- | HIV | Early: fever, sore throat, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes; later: weight loss, diarrhea, night sweats
- | Trichomoniasis| Often no symptoms; sometimes pain during urination/ejaculation, thin white discharge, swelling/redness
Note to reader:
